Williams wins weekly league award

William Smith sophomore setter Delainy Williams was named the Liberty League Women's Volleyball Performer of the Week by the conference office today. She led the Herons to a 2-1 week, with 96 assists in nine sets.
 
In a sweep of Rochester, Williams recorded 33 assists, two digs and a block assist. Against NYU, which is receiving votes in the national poll, she had 24 assists, two aces and two digs. Williams closed out the week with 39 digs, one off her season high, along with five digs, an ace and a block assist in a sweep of Manhattanville.
 
A starter in all 16 matches this season, Williams leads the Liberty League and is fifth in the nation in assists per set at 10.84. She's third on the team in aces (21), fourth in digs (82) and fifth in total blocks (14).
 
At 14-2, Williams has helped William Smith match its best record through 16 matches.
 
The Herons will continue their five-match road trip with a pair of Liberty League matches this weekend. On Friday, Oct. 7, William Smith will visit Bard (3-12, 0-1) for a 7 p.m. start. The following afternoon, the Herons will take on Vassar (13-3, 2-0) at 2 p.m.
