PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—The William Smith hockey team was defeated by eighth-ranked Plattsburgh 4-0 in a SUNYAC contest at Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena this evening. Tonight's game was the conference opener for both teams.

Mia Iwicki started in goal and made a career-high 53 saves.
Riley Keller led Plattsburgh with two points, recording a goal and an assist in the win. Chloe Lewis played all 60 minutes in goal for the Cardinals and made 13 saves as she earned the shutout.

- With the loss, William Smith falls to 2-1-0 overall with a 0-1-0 mark in conference play.

- Plattsburgh opened the scoring at the 8:13 mark of the first period. Kayson Ruegge snapped a shot from the slot past Iwicki for her first goal of the season. Maeghan Forsyth had an assist on the goal.
- The Cardinals broke the game open with a pair of goals in the second period. Riley Keller scored at the 4:49 mark of the middle frame. Her first goal of the season was assisted by Ella Fesette.
- Five minutes later, Bailey MacKellar scored, giving Plattsburgh a 3-0 lead. Her first goal of the year was unassisted.
- Piper Smith added an insurance goal for the Cardinals at the 16:28 mark of the third period. Her goal was assisted by Keller and Kate Conlon.
