#1 Hobart blanks Plattsburgh 3-0

GENEVA, N.Y.—The top-ranked Hobart hockey team scored two goals in the third period as they knocked off Plattsburgh 3-0 in a SUNYAC contest at The Cooler this afternoon. With the win, the Statesmen improve to 6-0-0 on the season.
 
Senior Damon Beaver played all 60 minutes in goal, making 22 saves as he earned his 20th career shutout. Three different Statesmen scored in the win.  
 
Beau Lane played just under 59 minutes in goal for the Cardinals in his collegiate debut. He made 40 saves.
 
STREAKING
  • With this afternoon's victory, Hobart extended its home winning streak to an NCAA Division III record 57 games.
  • Hobart has won 12 straight games overall.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Hobart finished the contest with a 43-22 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Neither team scored a power-play goal. Hobart was 0-for-2 on the power play. Plattsburgh was also 0-for-2.
 
SCORING SUMMARY
  • Hobart opened the scoring at the 7:15 mark of the second period. Junior Chris Duclair broke up a cross-ice pass at the offensive blue line, skated to the high slot and snapped a shot past Lane. His second goal of the season was unassisted.
  • The Statesmen doubled their lead just past the 10-minute mark of the third period. Senior Kahlil Fontana collected a pass from senior Tanner Daniels, deked around a defender and slipped a backhanded shot past Lane. Sophomore Arvega Hovsepyan also had an assist on Fontana's eighth goal of the season.
  • Junior Easton Ryan tacked on an empty-net goal with 45 seconds remaining in regulation.

UP NEXT

Hobart will be back in action next Friday, Nov. 21, when it begins a four-game road trip against Potsdam. The Statesmen and Bears are set for a 7 p.m. faceoff.
