Four members of the William Smith volleyball team were named to the All-Liberty League teams, the conference office announced today. Senior
Malya Sayre and sophomore
Delainy Williams were named to the first team, while senior
Hope Von Dohlen and sophomore
Arielle Newsome earned second team honors.

Sayre, Williams, Von Dohlen and Newsome all played significant roles in William Smith's record-breaking season. The Herons went 23-7, posting a 6-2 record in conference play to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Liberty League Tournament. After falling in the Liberty League title match, William Smith earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship for the second straight season and will head to Baltimore, Maryland, to take on Lynchburg in the first round on Thursday.

Sayre had another dominant season for the Herons, landing on the All-Liberty League first team for the third-straight year. She has tallied 514 kills— hitting a career-high .257—, 261 digs, 59 service aces and 46 blocks through 31 matches and has recorded a team-leading 10 double-doubles. Sayre has recorded double-digit kills in all but one match this season, reaching the 20+ kill mark eight times. She was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week once this season and was the first Heron in program history to surpass the 150-career service ace mark. Sayre currently holds the program's career kills record with 1,592. Her senior season was highlighted by a 24-kill (.258), 13-dig, and two service ace performance against No. 15 Ithaca in the Liberty League title match.

The six-rotation outside hitter from Peotone, Illinois, led the Liberty League in several statistical categories. She led the league and ranked third in the nation in points per set (5.64) and also led the league and ranked seventh in the nation in kills per set (4.80). Sayre also ranked seventh in the conference in service aces per set (0.55). Through four seasons at William Smith, Sayre has played in every single match in program history (107) and has tallied 1,592 kills, 183 service aces, 991 digs, 132 blocks and 1,858 points. Â

Williams followed her standout rookie campaign with another impressive season as a sophomore, landing on the All-Liberty League first team for the second-straight season. She has tallied 1,116 assists, marking her second-straight 1,000 assist season, 167 digs, 41 kills (.390), 40 blocks and 39 service aces. Williams currently holds the program record for career assists with 2,300. She has tallied 20+ assists in every single match this season, including 14 30+ assist matches, eight 40+ assist matches and three 50+ assist matches. Williams' season was highlighted by a 55-assist, eight-dig, and three-kill (.750) showing in the Liberty League title match. She was also named the Liberty League Performer of the Week once this season after a strong showing at the NYU tri-match.

The setter from Portland, Oregon, made her mark on the national stage after leading the Liberty League in several statistical categories. Williams leads the conference and ranks second in the nation in assists per set (11.02) and leads the Herons that ranked first in the Liberty League and 14th in the nation in team assists per set (12.52). She had her team ranked first in the conference and fourth in the nation in team hitting percentage (.269) and had three players rank top-10 in the Liberty League in hitting percentage. Through two seasons, Williams has tallied 2,300 assists, 367 digs, 90 service aces, 88 kills (.410), 71 blocks and 218 points.

Von Dohlen earned her second-straight all-conference recognition this season, moving up to the second team after earning honorable mention in 2024. This season she tallied 211 kills (.298), 63 blocks, and 54 digs in 30 matches. Von Dohlen recorded double-digit kills in eight matches, including a season-high 11 kills (.667) against Manhattanville. She also tallied a season-high six blocks and seven digs in a four-set win over Mary Washington. Â

The right side from San Antonio, Texas, has been a key contributor for the Herons this season on both sides of the ball. She averaged 2.13 kills per set, 0.64 blocks per set and 0.55 digs per set. Von Dohlen ranks seventh in the Liberty League in hitting percentage (.311) and 10th in blocks per set (0.64). Through four seasons, she has tallied 672 kills (.198), 207 digs, 162 blocks and 770 points.

Newsome also earned her second-straight All-Liberty League selection this season after jumping up to the second team in her sophomore year. She recorded 177 kills, 100 blocks, and 236 points 31 matches this season. Newsome put down double-digit kills in three matches this season, including a career-high 20-kill (.545) and five-block performance against No. 15 Ithaca. She has made her presence at the net known this season, recording 5+ blocks in nine matches, including a season-high eight-block performance against Babson. Newsome leads the team with 18 solo blocks on the season.

The middle blocker from Bloomfield, Michigan, had a standout sophomore campaign for the Herons. Newsome ranks second in the Liberty League in blocks per set (0.95) and third in hitting percentage (.324). She leads a William Smith squad that leads the Liberty League in blocks per set (1.93). Through two seasons, Newsome has tallied 313 kills (.309), 197 blocks, 32 digs and 428.5 points.
