6 Herons earn Academic All-District honors

Six members of the William Smith soccer team were named to the 2025 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators. Seniors Emily Blight and Ruth Hotaling, junior Antonia Goerke, and sophomores Nell Dwyer, Hannah Goodness and Lily Pryzwansky were recognized for their combined excellence on the pitch and in the classroom.
 
Academic All-District teams recognize student-athletes who are starters or significant contributors to their team, have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have completed at least one full year at their institution. Hotaling and Goodness will advance to the national Academic All-America® ballot.
 
A business management and entrepreneurship major, Blight is a two-time Academic All-District honoree. She also is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic pick.
 
A midfielder, Blight started all 17 matches this season. She earned her first collegiate point, an assist, in the Herons' win over Bard. A two-year starter, Blight played in 58 matches, starting 27.
 
A mathematics and music major, Hotaling is a three-time Academic All-District and three-time All-Liberty League selection. She also earned a spot on the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America second team.
 
A midfielder, Hotaling was voted the 2025 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 12 goals and 25 points. She earned All-Liberty League honors three times and was named a fourth team All-American in 2024 after leading the Herons to the national championship game. In 83 career matches, she produced 26 goals and 25 assists for 77 points. Hotaling is tied for seventh on William Smith's career assists list and 19th in career points.
 
A biochemistry major, Goerke is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection.
 
A goalkeeper, Goerke started all 17 matches this season, posting an 11-3-3 record with a 0.79 GAA and an .859 save percentage. She was second in the Liberty League in shutouts with eight and third in saves per game (4.65).
 
Dwyer was named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team this year. A defender, she is a two-year starter for the Herons. Dwyer had a goal and two assists this season, in addition to contributing to a defense that was second in the league with 10 shutouts. She was elected to the 2025 All-Liberty League second team.

Dwyer has started 38 of the 39 matches she's played in at William Smith. She has four goals and two assists for her career.
 
An educational studies major, Goodness earned a spot on the Liberty League All-Academic Team this year. She started every match on defense for William Smith this season, earning All-Liberty League first team recognition. Goodness has appeared in 32 matches during her first two seasons.
 
A business management and entrepreneurship major, Pryzwansky merited a spot on the 2025 Liberty League All-Academic Team. The midfielder played in 17 matches this season, starting 12, producing a goal and an assist. For her career, she has played in 38 matches, starting 14.
 
William Smith was 11-3-3 overall this season. The Herons were the runner-up in the Liberty League regular season with a 7-1-1 mark.
