GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart sophomore forward
Arvega Hovsepyan recorded his first collegiate hat trick as the top-ranked Statesmen hockey team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Manhattanville in a non-conference contest at The Cooler this afternoon.
In addition to Hovsepyan, six Statesmen finished multi-point games. Sophomore defenseman
Connor Elliott (1g, 2a) also had a three-point game. Sophomores
Nick Dimatos and
Ryan Remick and junior
Mason Mara had two assists in the win. Senior
Damon Beaver started in goal and made seven saves in 40 minutes of work. Sophomore
Connor Shibley made five saves in the third period.
Tripp Clarke started in goal for the Valiants. He made 39 saves in just under 52 minutes in goal. William Billequey made three saves in the final eight minutes.
STREAKING
- With this afternoon's victory, Hobart extended its home winning streak to 58 games.
- Overall, Hobart picked up its 17th straight victory and extended its unbeaten streak to 24 games.

SCORING SUMMARY
- The Statesmen got on the board just under two minutes into the first period. Sophomore Easton Ryan one-timed a centering pass from Adam Mendelson past Clarke for his seventh goal of the season. Dimatos also had a helper on the goal.
- Sophomore Tamas Toth gave Hobart a two-goal lead. He banged home a rebound for his second goal of the year. Senior Dominic Schimizzi and Elliott had assists on the power-play goal.
- Manhattanville broke up the shutout bid just past the midway point of the game. Jack Roberts slapped a shot from the low slot past Beaver for his third goal of the season. Mitchell Watson and Zach Turner were awarded assists.
- Hobart broke the game open, scoring the game's final six goals. Hovsepyan scored his first goal of the game at the 12:41 mark of the middle stanza. He collected a pass from Ignat Belov and snapped a shot into the back of the net. Remick also had an assist on the tally.
- Elliott scored his second goal of the season three minutes later. His rising slap shot beat Clarke over his glove hand. Sophomore Josh Doolan and Mara were awarded assists on the goal.
- One minute later, Hovsepyan slammed home a cross-crease pass from Kahlil Fontana for his fifth goal of the year. Tanner Daniels also had an assist on the goal.
- Conor Lally gave Hobart a 6-1 lead at the 4:15 mark of the third period. His fifth goal of the season came on a slapshot from the point through traffic and was assisted by Chris Duclair and Elliott.
- Hovsepyan completed his hat trick nine minutes into the third period. He deked around a defender and wristed home his sixth goal of the year.
- Belov tacked on an insurance goal with less than a second remaining in regulation. His second goal of the season was assisted by Remick and Mara.
