GENEVA, N.Y. – The 38th-ranked Hobart tennis team opened its spring home season in dominant fashion, sweeping Oneonta 7-0 this afternoon in Bristol Field House. The Statesmen controlled the match from start to finish, securing the doubles point before sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets.

In doubles action, seniors Hyat Oyer and Rahul Vallabhajosula led the charge with a 6-0 victory in the No. 1 spot against Jaden Ritterman and William Schmid. In the No. 2 position, classmates Troy Steiner and Nick Grosso defeated Chris Chippari and Ryan Geller 6-2, while first-years Marco Olmos and Kristen Weigt completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory over Sean Lippman and Nate Inzerillo in the No. 3 spot. 

The Statesmen remained dominant in singles play as they won all six singles points. Oyer picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 1 spot against Chippari, while Grosso followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Schmid at No. 2.

Vallahabjosula added a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot against Ritterman, while Steiner posted a perfect 6-0, 6-0 result at No. 4 against Geller. At No. 5, Olmos earned a 6-0, 6-2 win over Seth Cheung, as junior Tarang Malholtra defeated Braden Greenberg, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot.
