GENEVA, N.Y. – The William Smith tennis team opened its home season with an impressive 7-0 victory over SUNY Oneonta this afternoon in Bristol Field House. The Herons secured the doubles point before sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets.

In doubles play, junior Maddy Buck and senior Julia Pida earned a dominant 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot against Haley Peck and Taylor Plue. At No. 3, junior Lizzie Legg and senior Mia Tetrault secured a 6-4 win over Kelly Hayes and Jaila Killingbeck, securing the doubles point for the Herons.

William Smith carried its momentum into singles play, sweeping all six matchups. Senior Natalie Haythorn posted a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot against Peck, while junior Haley Levine defeated Danielle Copp 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 position.

Sophomore Mae Kellersman recorded a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 3 spot against Plue, while sophomore Grace Magna secured a 6-2, 6-1 win over Annika Cripe in the No. 4 spot.

Junior Marin Montagne followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 against Hayes, while first-year Bethany Walker capped off the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Killingbeck at No. 6. It was the first win of her collegiate career in dual match singles play.
