GENEVA, N.Y.— The Hobart tennis team delivered a dominant performance this afternoon, sweeping St. Lawrence 7-0 in a crucial conference matchup in Bristol Field House. With the win, the Statesmen improve to 10-8 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while the Saints fall to 8-13 on the season and 2-6 in the Liberty League.

Prior to the match, Hobart celebrated its five seniors— Jacob Linares, Hyat Oyer, Nick Grosso, Troy Steiner, and Rahul Vallabhajosula —for their dedication to the program over the past four seasons.

In doubles play, senior Nick Grosso and junior Nick Fischer teamed up at No. 1 to defeat Edvin Strandberg and John Hill-Edgar, 6-3. The duo is now 7-6 in dual match doubles play this season and has won two straight matches.

In the No. 2 spot, seniors Hyat Oyer and Rahul Vallabhajosula earned their team-leading 11th dual match doubles win of the season as they posted a 6-3 victory over Jake David and Broderick Pinto. To complete the sweep, seniors Troy Steiner and Jacob Linares cruised past Sebastian Boada and Willem Naughton at No. 3, winning 6-0, securing the doubles point.

Hobart continued its strong play into singles action, winning all six matches against the Saints. At No. 1, Oyer defeated Strandberg 6-2, 6-3, for his team-leading 11th dual match singles win of the season. Fischer followed at No. 2 with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Pinto.

At No. 3, Grosso rallied to beat Hill-Edgar 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 and clinched the match for the Statesmen. Vallabhajosula pulled off a thrilling comeback at No. 4, winning 6-7 (9-11), 6-2, 10-6 over David.

Linares dominated at No. 5, posting a 6-0, 6-0 sweep against Ryan Tingley, while at No. 6, first-year Marco Olmos closed out the match with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-1 victory over Charles Schepens. Olmos is now 8-6 in dual matches in his rookie season and is 5-5 from the No. 6 spot.
