GENEVA, N.Y.— The Hobart tennis team used strong singles play to grab a big conference victory this afternoon as it defeated No. 37 Skidmore 4-3 this afternoon in Bristol Field House. With the win, the Statesmen improve to 6-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in the Liberty League.
In doubles play, seniors Rahul Vallabhajosula and Hyat Oyer continued to impress as the duo defeated Fletcher King and Nika Mori 6-4 in the No. 2 spot. Vallabhajosula and Oyer are now 7-3 in dual matches this season. Despite a strong showing, Skidmore secured the doubles point after earning wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.
The Statesmen responded well in singles play, winning four of the six matches to secure the crucial conference victory. Oyer earned his second win of the day as he defeated Yuval Goodman in the No. 1 spot 6-0, 6-4, for his seventh dual match victory of the season.
Senior Nick Grosso continued his winning ways as he defeated King 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot to move to 7-5 on the season.Vallabhajosula also earned his second win of the day in singles play as he defeated Mori 7-5, 1-6, 6-2, in the No. 4 spot.
Junior Nick Fisher clinched the victory for Hobart as he defeated Griffin Biernat 7-6, 7-5, in the No. 2 spot. Fischer is now 5-6 in dual match singles play this season.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, April 6, as it welcomes Union to Geneva for another Liberty League contest. Action between the Statesmen and the Garnet Chargers is set for 2 p.m. in Bristol Field House.
