GENEVA, N.Y.— The William Smith tennis team faced a tough test this morning in a Liberty League matchup against No. 35 Skidmore in Bristol Field House. The Herons fell 7-0 to the Thoroughbreds and fall to 4-7 on the season, while Skidmore improves to 6-8 with the win.
In doubles action, Skidmore came out strong, claiming the doubles point by winning all three matches. In the No. 2 spot, senior Natalie Haythorn and junior Marin Montagne battled against Ella Provost and Mia Sarzynska but ultimately fell 6-2 in a competitive match.
In singles play, the Thoroughbreds swept all six matches, though several Herons put up strong efforts. At No. 1, Haythorn challenged Konika Dhull, pushing the second set before falling 6-2, 7-5. In the No. 4 spot, sophomore Grace Magna kept it close with Beilynn Geiss, but lost 6-3, 6-4 in another hard-fought contest.
