Six Hobart student-athletes were among the honorees named to the 2024-25 NCAA Division III Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Three of the six were chosen to advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Representing Hobart on the Academic All-District Team are five members of the national championship hockey team: seniors
Luke Aquaro and
Cooper Swift, juniors
Tristan Fasig and
Kahlil Fontana and sophomore
Bauer Morrissey. The sixth honoree is volleyball graduate student
Andrew Kim.
Academic All-District teams recognize student-athletes who are starters or significant contributors to their team, have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have completed at least one full year at their institution. The top scholar-athletes in each district advance to the national Academic All-America ballot. CSC names Academic All-America teams in 14 different sports. The at-large team is for student-athletes in NCAA Championship sports that don't have a sport specific team.
Aquaro graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in economics. He is making his second appearance on the Academic All-District team. Aquaro was voted to the Academic All-America first team during his sophomore season. He is a three-time AHCA All-American Scholar and a three-time NEHC All-Academic selection.
On the ice, Aquaro, guided Hobart to three straight national championships. During his senior season, he served as team captain and played in all 31 games. Aquaro was second on the team with 16 goals and 34 points. He added 18 assists. Aquaro scored twice, including the game-winning goal, in Hobart's come-from-behind win over Trine in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. He played in 111 career games, recording 134 points on 70 goals and 64 assists. A two-time CCM/AHCA All-American, Aquaro finished third on Hobart's career goals list and fourth in career points.
Swift graduated from Hobart with a bachelor's degree in economics. He is making his third appearance on the Academic All-District team and is a two-time Academic All-American. Swift is a three-time AHCA All-American Scholar and a three-time NEHC All-Academic selection. He won the NCAA's Elite 90 Award as a sophomore.
Also a captain, Swift is one of Hobart's top defensemen. He played in 29 games this season, recording 17 assists. Swift's 21 blocked shots tied for first on the team. He had an assist against Trine in the national quarterfinals. Swift played in 102 games, producing 56 points on four goals and 52 assists.
Majoring in history, Fasig is a two-time NEHC All-Academic selection and was named an AHCA All-American Scholar as a first-year.
An assistant captain, Fasig played in 29 games this winter. He had five goals and six assists, finishing the year with 11 points. Fasig recorded the game-winning goal in one of Hobart's regular season wins over Norwich. He had a season-high two assists against Fredonia. Fasig has played in 82 games over the last three seasons, recording 45 points on 16 goals and 29 assists.
A management and entrepreneurship major, Fontana is a two-time NEHC All-Academic selection and a two-time AHCA All-American Scholar.
The 2025 NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Fontana, skated in 30 games this season. He had 18 points on 10 goals and eight assists. Fontana's biggest goal of the season came at the 18:22 mark of overtime when he scored the game-winning goal against Utica to secure Hobart's third-straight national title. He also had an assist in the national semifinals against Geneseo. Fontana finished his junior season fifth in the nation with five game-winning goals. Fontana has played in 85 career games, registering 21 goals, 25 assists and 46 points.
A sophomore, Morrissey is a business and entrepreneurship major. He was a NEHC All-Academic selection this year.
A defenseman, Morrissey played in all 31 games this season. He was second on the team with 20 assists. Morrissey added three goals to finish the year with 23 points. He set up the game-tying goal in the national championship game and in the quarterfinals against Trine. The 2024 NEHC Rookie of the Year, Morrissey has played in 58 career games, logging 50 points on eight goals and 42 assists.
Hobart hockey went 29-1-1 this season, winning its third straight national championship. Over the past three seasons, the Statesmen have skated to an 86-5-2 record.
A graduate transfer, Kim earned a master's degree in higher education leadership in May. He is a four-time United Volleyball Conference All-Academic pick. An Academic All-District selection last year, Kim earned a spot on the 2023 Academic All-America Team as an undergraduate at Vassar.
The 2025 AVCA Regional Player of the Year, Kim guided Hobart to a 20-9 overall record in its second varsity season. He tallied 366 kills, 183 digs, 43 service aces and 38 blocks this season. Kim led the UVC and was second in the nation in points per set (5.42). He was third in the nation in kills per set (4.62) and 15th in aces per set (0.53). Kim posted a team-leading six double-doubles, including five 20+ kill performances. A four-time AVCA first team All-American, Kim finished his career with an NCAA Division III record 1,828 kills.
