Hobart, Rochester battle to 1-1 draw

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart soccer team and Rochester played to a 1-1 draw in a hard-fought non-conference contest at Fauver Stadium this evening. With the tie, the Statesmen are now 4-0-1 to start the season.
 
Junior Will Redman scored for Hobart. Senior Tommy Chyzowych played all 90 minutes in goal and made five saves.
 
Milos Bisenic had the goal for the Yellowjackets. Ben Ziegler played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Rochester finished the game with a 14-11 edge in shots.
  • Hobart had six corner kicks and the Yellowjackets had two.
 
MATCH MOMENTS
  • Neither team found the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes.
  • In the 16th minute, Joe Pariano had a chance to open the scoring, but his shot went just over the crossbar.
  • Will Fallona had Rochester's best chance in the first half. He dribbled around a defender and chipped a shot on goal that was turned aside by a diving Chyzowych. Bisenic fired the rebound just wide of the right post.
  • Bisenic put Rochester on the board in the 48th minute. He buried a free kick from 25 yards out into the upper left corner of the cage.
  • In the 58th minute, Brady Leitner nearly tied the game, but his shot just missed wide left.
  • Pasquale Carusone almost gave Rochester a two-goal lead, but he fired a shot off the crossbar. One minute later, Johnny Makula had a shot turned aside by a diving Chyzowych.
  • In the 76th minute, Redman converted on a penalty kick to tie the game at one. It was his first collegiate goal.
  • Hobart continued to apply pressure following the equalizer, including winning four consecutive corners, but it could not sneak a second shot past the Rochester goalie.
  • In the 85th minute, La Zai Outerbridge nearly scored the game-winning goal, but his shot from inside the 6-yard box just missed the right goal post.
  • Chyzowich had to make a pair of saves for the Statesmen in the final 10 minutes to preserve the draw.
 
UP NEXT
Hobart will be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 16, when it begins a three-game homestand against Brockport. The non-conference contest is scheduled to begin a 4 p.m.
