Hamilton blanks Herons

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hamilton scored two goals in each period as it knocked off William Smith 6-0 in a non-conference contest at The Cooler this evening.
 
Mia Iwicki started in goal for William Smith and made 37 saves.
 
Grace Crowley recorded a hat trick to lead the way for the Continentals. Lydia Bullock and Sarah Wagner had two assists each. Teagan Brown played all 60 minutes in goal for Hamilton and made 16 saves as she earned the shutout.

MATCH MOMENTS
  • The Continentals opened the scoring at the 5:12 mark of the first period. Bri Rockwood snapped a shot from the slot past Iwicki. Her fourth goal of the season was assisted by Cuora Sullivan and Carly McMahon.
  • Seven minutes later, Crowley notched her first goal of the game. She redirected a shot from Sophia Testa into the back of the net. Lydia Bullock also had an assist on the goal.
  • Jamie Porter gave Hamilton a three-goal lead just past the five-minute mark of the second period. She poked a loose puck across the goal line for her second goal of the season. Sophie Berhammer and Sadie Klein also had assists on the goal.
  • Crowley made it 4-0 at the 11:59 mark of the middle stanza. She collected a centering pass from Bullock and wristed a shot past Iwicki.
  • Hamilton had a goal waved off in the closing stages of the second period due to goaltender interference.
  • Crowley completed her hat trick at the 9:02 mark of the third period. She collected a rebound in the right faceoff circle and snapped home her fourth goal of the season. Wagner had an assist on the tally.
  • Gabby Martiniello rounded out the scoring at the 17:02 mark of the final period. She fired a shot from the point through traffic. Her first goal of the season was assisted by Wagner and Lila Snow.
 
UP NEXT
William Smith will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 16, when it welcomes Elmira to The Cooler. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
