Hobart never trails in road win over Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team shot 48% from the floor and never trailed in a 77-63 Liberty League win at Clarkson tonight. Junior Alex Moesch led the Statesmen with 18 points.
 
Moesch was 6-of-11 shooting, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range, and grabbed six rebounds. He was joined in double digits by sophomore Allen Mordi, who recorded 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Justin Price added nine points and shared game-high honors with four assists.
 
Clarkson also had two players reach double figures led by Nate Abernethy's 19 points. Braeden Burns chipped in 13 points.
 
GAME RECAP
First Half: Hobart 44, Clarkson 31
  • Hobart broke open a 9-all game with an 11-2 run that put the visitors in front for good.
  • The six-minute surge included consecutive 3-pointers by sophomore Monty Nedd, senior Gabriel Bergeron and Mordi.
  • The Statesmen led by at least two possessions for the rest of the half, carrying a 13-point lead into halftime.
  • Hobart shot 55% from the floor in the first 20 minutes, sinking 8-of-16 from deep.
 
Second Half: Hobart 77, Clarkson 63
  • The Knights outscored the Statesmen 12-2 in the first five minutes of the second half, trimming Hobart's lead to just three.
  • The Statesmen countered with an 18-6 run and never looked back. Mordi keyed the run with 10 points.
