GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith hockey team scored twice in the first period and never looked back as it knocked off Morrisville 4-1 in a SUNYAC game at The Cooler this afternoon. The victory snapped William Smith's six-game losing streak.

Julia Chase played all 60 minutes in goal and made 19 saves as she earned the victory.
Lindsey Dirant scored for the Mustangs. Gabrielle Brazeau played all 60 minutes in goal for the Mustangs and made 28 saves.

- With the win, William Smith is now 8-9-0 on the season with a 4-2-0 mark in conference play.

SCORING SUMMARY
- William Smith opened the scoring 95 seconds into the game. Bella Hacker wristed a shot from the left faceoff circle past the goalie for her sixth goal of the season. The power-play goal was assisted by Valas and senior Kelly Howe.
- Sophomore Anna Tardiff scored her first collegiate goal at the 8:29 mark of the first period. She collected a pass from Kennedy in the low slot and chipped a shot past the goalie. Valas also had an assist on the goal.
- Kennedy gave William Smith a 3-0 lead at the 4:40 mark of the third period. She picked up a rebound and stuffed the loose puck across the goal line. Senior Fiona Gallagher and junior Colleen Quirk had assists on the goal.
- Sophomore Ainsley Lonczak tacked on an insurance goal just over a minute later. She broke up a clearing pass at the offensive blueline, skated into the low slot and snapped a shot past Brazeau. It was her third goal of the season.
- Morrisville broke up the shutout bid with just over a second left in regulation. Dirant snapped a shot through traffic past Chase. Her power-play goal was assisted by Ella Millar and Alexa Spiers.

William Smith will be back in action next weekend, Jan. 30-31, when it takes on Buffalo State in a home-and-home series. Friday night's game will be in Buffalo, and Saturday's game will be at The Cooler.
