BUFFALO, N.Y.—The William Smith ice hockey team knocked off Buffalo State 4-2 in a SUNYAC contest at The Buffalo State Ice Arena this afternoon. It was the second straight victory for the Herons.

Mia Iwicki went the distance in goal and made 22 saves.
Two different players scored for the Bengals. Alexa Todd played all 60 minutes in goal and made 33 saves.

- With the win, the Herons are now 9-9-0 on the season with a 5-2-0 mark in SUNYAC play.
- Buffalo State falls to 10-7-1 with a2-5-0 mark in league play.
SCORING SUMMARY
- After a scoreless first period, Buffalo State took a 1-0 lead at the 5:43 mark of the middle stanza. Sydney Radecki picked up a puck in the low slot and slipped a shot past Iwicki. Her seventh goal of the season was assisted by Keegan Scott and Vanessa Willick.
- Three minutes later, the Herons tied the game. Tardiff banged home a rebound for her second goal in as many games. It was an unassisted goal.
- Valas gave William Smith the lead at the 17:08 mark of the second period. She fired a shot through traffic and past Todd. It was her first goal of the year. Laine Heiser had an assist on the power-play goal.
- Hacker extended the Herons' lead to two goals with her team-leading seventh goal of the season. She picked up a loose puck in the low slot and chipped a shot past the Buffalo State goalie.
- Diglio tacked on an insurance goal at the 17:25 mark of the third period. Her second goal of the season was assisted by Hacker.
- Madison Mallone rounded out the scoring for the Bengals. Her third goal of the season was assisted by Emma Ramseier and Taylor Masterson.

With tomorrow's series finale with Buffalo State being postponed due to winter weather in the Buffalo area, the Herons will be back in action on Feb. 6, when they welcome Potsdam to The Cooler. Faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
