The Hobart and William Smith cross country teams were among the brightest teams in the nation in 2025. Both the Statesmen and Herons earned the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team Awards, which were announced yesterday.

To qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

William Smith recorded a 3.78 team cumulative GPA through the end of the fall semester. That was tied for the 22nd highest out of the more than 200 teams recognized with the award. The Herons have been a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team 33 years in a row, every season in the program's history.

Individually, 14 William Smith runners were named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team.

William Smith won the Bridgeman Invitational and the Cross Country Only Conference Championship this fall. The Herons finished seventh in the Liberty League Championship and took 17th in the NCAA Niagara Regional Championship.

Hobart logged a 3.25 team cumulative GPA. This is the seventh time the Statesmen have earned the award.

Individually, six Statesmen earned Liberty League All-Academic honors.

On the race course, Hobart won the Bridgeman Invitational, the Wildcat Classic and placed second in the CCOC Championship. The Statesmen took eighth in the Liberty League Championship and 17th at NCAA regionals.
