GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith ice hockey team was edged in overtime by Potsdam 2-1 in a SUNYAC game at The Cooler this afternoon. Jessika Bullock scored the game-winning goal for the Bears 2:18 into the extra session.
Laine Heiser scored for the Herons. Junior
Mia Iwicki played all 62 minutes in goal for William Smith and made 35 saves.
Three different players recorded a point in the win for Potsdam. Magalie Parent played every minute in goal and made 30 saves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Potsdam finished the contest with a 37-31 advantage in shots on goal, including all four in the extra frame.
- William Smith was 1-for-2 on the power play and the Bears were 0-for-6 with the extra attacker.
THE WINNER
- Bullock picked up a rebound in the slot and flipped a shot past Iwicki. Bullock's first goal of the season was assisted by Isabel Boyd.
SCORING SUMMARY
- Heiser opened the scoring at the 10:08 mark of the second period. She picked up a puck in the slot and fired a shot through traffic past Parent. Her fourth goal of the season was a power-play goal. It was assisted by senior Kelly Howe and first-year Finley Crosby.
- Marissa Whiteside tied the game 1-1 at the 5:17 mark of the third period. She collected a loose puck below the goal line and through a shot off of the left pad and into the back of the net. It was an unassisted tally.

William Smith will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 7, when it welcomes Plattsburgh to The Cooler at 4 p.m. The Herons, who will be playing their final home game of the regular season, will recognize their four members of the Class of 2026 prior to the game.
