SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—For the second time in eight days, Hobart junior
Dorian Paki produced a career-high scoring effort, logging a game-high 27 points at Skidmore this afternoon. However, the Thoroughbreds used a big second half to post a 101-94 victory.
Paki was 11-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-8 at the line. Junior
Alex Moesch added 22 points, sinking three 3-pointers and going 9-of-10 at the line. Senior
Gabriel Bergeron also hit double digits, scoring a career-high 19 points. He went 6-of-10 from 3-point range. It's the most 3-pointers made in a game by a Statesman since David Corrales Marco '23 made six against Bard on Feb. 22, 2022.
Skidmore also had three players in double figures. Jacob Gooden led the way with 25 points, while Joey Skoric and Aidan Roy each contributed 24 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The big difference in the final stats was at the free throw line. Skidmore made more free throws (29) than Hobart attempted (26).
- The Statesmen's 94 points are their second highest total of the season.
- The Thoroughbreds recorded the most points they've scored in a game this season.
GAME RECAP
First Half: Hobart 53, Skidmore 48
- The Statesmen led 12-8, but the Thoroughbreds ripped off 14 straight points to take the lead.
- Hobart answered with 11 straight points of their own to reclaim the lead. First-year Harrison Muntner led the charge with six points.
- The Statesmen pushed their advantage to 40-33 with a 15-6 run that included three triples by Bergeron and three buckets by Paki in the post.
- Hobart took a five-point lead into the locker room.
- Paki and Roy were the top scorers in the opening 20 minutes with 15 points apiece.
Second Half: Skidmore 101, Hobart 94
- The Thoroughbreds tied the game with the first two baskets of the second half.
- The teams traded buckets to up the score to 55-all. Paki made the front end of a two-shot foul to put the Statesmen up one. It proved to be their final lead of the game.
- After sophomore Monty Nedd made a layup with seven and a half minutes left, Hobart trailed by just two, 77-75.
- Skidmore broke the game open with 10 of the next 11 points. The Statesmen trailed by at least seven the rest of the way.
