GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith ice hockey team was edged by fifth-ranked Nazareth 3-2 in a non-conference contest at The Cooler this afternoon. The Golden Flyers jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for the one-goal win.

Mia Iwicki started in goal and made 29 saves.
Eight different players recorded a point in the win for Nazareth. Mia Gonsalves started in goal and made 14 saves.

- Lindsay Moses opened the scoring, firing home a feed from Corsica Skiblinski. Her second goal of the season came at the 2:15 mark of the opening frame. Marina McCann also had an assist on the tally.
- Two minutes later, Logan Marchese ripped a shot from the slot past Iwicki. Her fifth goal of the season was assisted by Amy Laskowski and Nikki Sharp.
- The Golden Flyers tacked on an insurance goal at the 6:29 mark of the opening frame. Ella Mannila's fifth goal of the season was set up by Meredith Boettcher.
- Crosby started the William Smith comeback attempt at the 7:08 mark of the second period. She wristed a shot from the right faceoff circle off the left goal post and into the net. Her third goal of the season was assisted by Heiser.
- At the 11:11 mark of the second period, Abigail Schum had a point-blank chance turned aside by Gonsalves.
- Tara Valas had a chance at the buzzer, but her shot was blocked by a Nazareth defender.
- Heiser made it a one-goal game at the 1:54 mark of the third period. She wristed a shot from the right faceoff circle into the upper right corner of the cage. The tally was assisted by Rowan Kennedy and Abigail Schum.
- Ainsley Lonczak nearly tied the game with five minutes left, but she fired a shot off the crossbar.
- The Herons' defense stood tall in the final 2:26, killing off a late-game penalty.
