Four Hobart sailors will take to the water in Annapolis, Maryland, this weekend, Oct. 3-4, to compete for the Carl Van Duyne Trophy, the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Men's Singlehanded Championship.

Seniors Jack Carter and TJ Allison and junior Dante Garcia and first-year Nicholas Crull will represent the Statesmen at this year's regatta. They qualified for the championship based on their finishes at the ILCA North to start the season. Crull, who was making his collegiate debut, won the regatta, compiling 20 points on the weekend. Carter finished sixth, while Allison and Garcia placed eighth and ninth, respectively.

Carter will be making his fourth trip to the conference championship regatta. His best finish was 10th last year. Garcia will be making his third trip to the Carl Van Duyne, and Allison qualified for the second straight year.

Nick Session '24 won the Carl Van Duyne Trophy for HWS in 2023.

Eighteen sailors from eight schools are scheduled to compete for the conference crown in Annapolis. The first-place finisher will receive the league's automatic bid to the ICSA Men's Singlehanded Championship.

HWS will also be in action at the Danmark Trophy in New London, Connecticut, and William Smith sailors will be in Hanover, New Hampshire, for the ACC Eliminations.
