Herons host 2 conference foes this weekend

The William Smith basketball team will be back in action this weekend as it hosts two conference games against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Herons will take on the Saints Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Golden Knights on Saturday at 2 p.m.

ABOUT THE HERONS: (3-18, 1-13 LL)
  • Junior Giana Lobozzo leads William Smith and ranks 12th in the Liberty League in scoring, averaging 11.0 ppg. Fellow classmate Amelia McCulley follows close behind in 16th with 10.1 ppg.
  • Lobozzo also leads the team in rebounding as she grabs 5.5 boards per game. Junior Ava Lobozzo and sophomore Bridget McCleary follow with 4.0 rpg each.
  • McCulley ranks ninth in the conference in 3-point field goals per game (1.4), while Giana Lobozzo leads the Herons with 2.0 assists per game.
  • Defensively, the Herons are led by Giana Lobozzo's 2.3 steals per game, which ranks fourth in the conference.
  • William Smith ranks fifth in the Liberty League in blocked shots per game (2.95) and has three players in the top-25 in that category. McCulley ranks fifth in the conference with 1.1 blocks per game and currently sits third on the William Smith career records list with 87 career blocked shots. Giana Lobozzo chips in 0.6 blocks per game, which ranks 12th, while first-year Kira Ostovar adds 0.4 blocks per game, tied for 20th.

  • St. Lawrence is coming off a 71-49 loss to RIT on Saturday that snapped its five-game win streak.

  • Doyle grabs a team-leading 6.0 boards, while Elizabeth Aiossa chips in 5.7 rpg.
  • Addie Kea dishes out 4.1 apg for Clarkson, while Doyle adds 2.9 apg.
  • Defensively, the Golden Knights are led by Doyle's 0.8 blocks per game and Griffin's 1.7 spg.
SERIES SNAPSHOT:
