GENEVA, N.Y.—A balanced scoring attack and a dominant performance on the glass led the Hobart basketball team to a 79-62 Liberty League win over Clarkson in Bristol Gym this afternoon. The Statesmen snapped an eight-game slide by shooting 50.9% from the floor and outrebounding the Golden Knights by 20.
Junior
Alex Moesch led Hobart with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. First-year
Harrison Muntner added 14 points off the bench. He was 6-of-10 shooting with a trey. Sophomore
Monty Nedd posted 13 points and game-highs of eight rebounds and five assists. Senior
Niko Lutz made his first career start and contributed 11 points and two blocked shots. Sophomore
Allen Mordi and senior
Gabriel Bergeron contributed nine points and eight points, respectively. Junior
Dorian Paki matched Nedd's eight rebounds.
Clarkson relied heavily on first-year Nate Abernathy and junior Braeden Burns. Abernathy was 10-of-17 from the floor on his way to a game-high 24 points. Burns converted 7-of-11 from the floor and 8-of-11 at the line for 22 points. He also grabbed a team-high seven boards and recorded a game-high five steals.

GAME RECAP
First Half: Hobart 34, Clarkson 32
- The Statesmen started the game strong, scoring the first 11 points and jumping out to an 18-4 lead.
- The veteran trio of Bergeron, Moesch and Lutz combined for 14 points in the first five minutes.
- Clarkson got on track in the latter stages of the first half, using a 13-0 run to cut Hobart's lead to just one, 23-22.
- Hobart went into the break with a two-point lead.
Second Half: Hobart 79, Clarkson 62
- The Golden Knights tied the game twice in the early minutes of the second half, but never took a lead.
- Back-to-back 3-pointers by Bergeron and Moesch and a layup by Mordi, broke the final tie and pushed Hobart's advantage to 44-36.
- The Statesmen used a 14-2 run that spanned more than three minutes and led to a 67-53 lead for the home team with under six minutes remaining.
- Clarkson didn't score consecutive baskets the rest of the way.
- The Golden Knights struggled from 3-point range, especially in the second half. After going 4-of-16 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes, they managed to make just one of 16 attempts from deep in the second half.
GAME NOTES
- Moesch has made at least one 3-pointer in 28 consecutive games.
- The Hobart-Clarkson rivalry dates back to 1917. With today's win, the Statesmen improved to 91-62 against the Golden Knights.
- The 91 victories are the most by Hobart against any of its all-time opponents.
- Clarkson's 24 rebounds are the fewest the Knights have had in a game since they grabbed just 21 at Hobart on Jan. 25, 2025.
