GENEVA, N.Y.—The top-ranked Hobart hockey team knocked off Buffalo State 4-0 at The Cooler this evening. With the win, the Statesmen notched their 64th straight win at The Cooler. It is the longest home winning streak in collegiate hockey history, breaking a record that was held by Cornell since 1972.
Senior
Kahlil Fontana (1g, 1a) and junior
Chris Duclair (1g, 1a) led the way for Hobart (24-0-0, 17-0-0), finishing tonight's contest with two points each. Junior
Bauer Morrissey and sophomore
Connor Elliott also had goals in the win. Senior
Mavrick Goyer started in goal and stopped all 14 shots he faced as he earned his fourth straight shutout. He also had an assist.
Marcus Cumberworth started in goal for the Bengals (9-14-1, 6-10-1) and made 39 saves in just over 55 minutes of work. Ben Dardis played the final 4:46 in goal and made four saves.
STREAKING
- In addition to extending their home winning streak, the Statesmen have won 30 straight games and are unbeaten in 37 straight games.
- Goyer has not allowed a goal in 246:27 minutes and has allowed just one goal in his last five starts.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Hobart finished the game with a 47-14 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Statesmen were 2-for-5 on the power play. The Bengals did not have a power play.
SCORING SUMMARY
- After a scoreless first period, Fontana opened the scoring 86 seconds into the second period. He collected a pass from Tanner Daniels in the neutral zone, skated into the slot and ripped a shot into the back of the net. His team-leading 19th goal of the season knocked the goalie's water bottle clean out of its holder on the back of the net.
- Duclair gave Hobart a 2-0 lead at the 11:23 mark of the second period. He collected a break-out pass from senior Dominic Schimizzi and snapped a shot from the right faceoff circle over Cumberworth's blocker for his 10th goal of the season. Goyer also had an assist after starting the play below his own goal line.
- Morrissey put the game out of reach 90 seconds into the third period. He one-timed a cross-ice pass from Arvega Hovsepyan past Cumberworth for his fifth goal of the year. Fontana also had an assist on the power-play goal.
- Elliott rounded out the scoring with just under three minutes remaining in regulation. He wristed a shot from the right faceoff circle through Dardis' legs for his third goal of the season. Duclair had an assist on the power-play goal.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
- Today's shutout was the 20th of Goyer's career. He is the sixth goalie in NCAA Division III history to record 20 shutouts.
- Hobart's 10 shutouts this season are third on Hobart's single-season list.
- With an assist tonight, Hovsepyan now has 28 on the season. That moves him into a tie for fifth on Hobart's single-season list with Steve Morin and Chris Thresher.
- Daniels' assist gave him 112 points for his career, moving him into a tie for eighth on Hobart's all-time list with Brian Duffett '90.

Hobart will conclude its regular season tomorrow, Feb. 21, when it welcomes Fredonia to The Cooler. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
