GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith ice hockey team battled 15th-ranked Plattsburgh for 60 minutes, but was edged 2-1 in a SUNYAC contest at The Cooler this afternoon.

Mia Iwicki played just over 58 minutes in goal. She finished the contest with 29 saves.
Bailey MacKellar led the Cardinals with two points, recording a goal and an assist in the win. Chloe Lewis played all 60 minutes in goal and made 22 saves.

- William Smith is now 9-11-0 on the season with a 5-4-0 mark in conference play.
- Plattsburgh improves to 15-6-0 overall and 9-1-0 in league play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals finished the game with a 31-23 edge in shots on goal.
- Neither team had a power-play goal. Plattsburgh was 0-for-2 on the power play, and William Smith was 0-for-1 with the extra attacker.
MATCH MOMENTS
- The Herons and Cardinals were evenly matched in the first period, with Plattsburgh holding an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal.
- Crosby gave William Smith a 1-0 lead at the 12:12 mark of the opening frame. She intercepted a clearing pass in front of the net and slipped a shot past Lewis. The unassisted goal was Crosby's fourth goal of the season.
- Plattsburgh tied the game 75 seconds into the second period. MacKellar collected a pass from Emily Kasprzak and flipped a shot past Iwicki. Taya Balfour also had an assist on the game-tying goal.
- The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead at the 12:26 mark of the middle stanza. Standing in the right faceoff circle, Zoe Puc collected a pass from Seoyoung Yoo and one-timed a shot inside the right goal post for her ninth goal of the season. MacKellar also had an assist on the game-winning goal.
- In addition to the two goals in the second period, Plattsburgh hit a pair of goal posts.
- The third period saw the Cardinals outshoot the Herons 9-8.
- Emily Kasprzak nearly gave Plattsburgh a 3-1 lead at the 6:33 mark of the third period, but she rang a shot off the crossbar. The rebound attempt was smothered by Iwicki.
SENIOR SALUTE
- Today's game was Senior Day for the Herons. Before the contest, the Herons recognized Allie Cimis, Seneca Urban, Kelly Howe and Fiona Gallagher with a brief ceremony.
- With her first shift in today's game, Howe became the 13th player in program history to play in 100 career games.
