The William Smith Alpine skiing team competed in week four of USCSA action on West Mountain over the weekend. The Herons finished first of 11 teams in the giant slalom on Saturday and second of 11 teams in the slalom on Sunday to hold their second-place spot in the Mideast Conference standings.

In Saturday's giant slalom race, which included 60 racers, William Smith produced four top 20 finishers, including the first-place finisher, first-yearÂ
Aspen McAuley. McAuley continues to dominate on the mountain, securing first place by over six seconds with a time of 2:06.0. Senior
Julia Bragg secured ninth place with a time of 2:18.11, while first-year
Delaney Remington crossed the finish line at 2:18.11 for 11th place. Junior
Emily Cain rounded out the top four Heron finishers with a 15th place finish and a time of 2:22.10.

In Sunday's slalom race, five Herons finished in the top 20 to help William Smith secure second place. McAuley added another first place finish after stopping the clock at 1:07.67. SeniorÂ
Kate Broderick finished eighth with a time of 1:12.42. SophomoreÂ
Mia Crivelli crossed the finish line at 1:15.35 to secure a 12th place finish, while Remington followed close behind with a time of 1:16.98, adding a 14th-place finish. Cain raced to a  20 th place finish with a time of 1:22.23.

William Smith will be back in action next weekend for the final week of the USCSA regular season. The Herons will race the giant slalom event on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. and the slalom on Sunday at 9 a.m. on Labrador Mountain.
