PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla.—The eighth-ranked William Smith lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought battle 17-11 to fourth-ranked Salisbury in a non-conference contest at Pete Edwards Field at Publix Sports Park this evening. Junior
Katie Grottenthaler led the Herons with four goals.

Casey Fiore played all 60 minutes in goal and made 11 saves.
Audrey Harrington led Salisbury with eight points on seven goals and an assist. Julianna Ott added three goals and a game-high six draw controls. Abby Fleishell also had a game-high six draws. Paige Ellis started in goal and made nine saves as she earned the victory. Jaclyn Bange made one save.

- The Sea Gulls opened the scoring 48 seconds into the game. Ott ripped a shot past Fiore.
- William Smith answered quickly and took a 2-1 lead with 11:48 remaining in the opening frame. Grottenthaler and Fulton scored unassisted goals.
- Salisbury scored five of the next six goals to take a 6-3 lead at the end of the first 15 minutes. Harrington scored three goals during the run. Lauren Hacket and Ott also had goals. Falco had the William Smith goal during that stretch.
- William Smith came out of the first intermission on fire, using a 4-1 run to make it 7-7 with 5:47 left in the half. Grottenthaler and Falco had the first two tallies before Harrington briefly halted the run. Colvin and Fulton added goals to tie the game.
- Salisbury seized control of the game with a four-goal run that spanned the second and third quarters. Mears kickstarted the run to make it 8-7 after 30 minutes. Harrington notched her fifth and sixth goals of the game while Regan McDonnell also scored for Salisbury.
- The Herons cut the deficit to two goals with 6:03 left in the third quarter, but that would be as close as William Smith would get. Grottenthaler completed her hat trick and senior Taryn Luzi scored for William Smith.
- Following Luzi's goal, Salisbury put the game out of reach with a 6-1 run. Avery Dunbar highlighted the run with Salisbury's final two goals of the game.
- Colvin and Grottenthaler had the fourth quarter goals for William Smith.
