CANTON, N.Y.—The eighth-ranked William Smith lacrosse cruised to a 12-4 win over St. Lawrence in a Liberty League contest at North Country Field this afternoon. The Herons opened the game with an 11-1 run and never looked back as they picked up their seventh win of the season.

Janey Sypeck anchored the Herons' defense with four caused turnovers and two ground balls and graduate student
Casey Fiore stopped eight shots.
Tallis Tarbell led the Saints with two goals. Winnie Downs had three caused turnovers and three ground balls and Hannah Jackson brought in four ground balls. Zoe Froimowitz played all 60 minutes in goal and made 11 saves.

- William Smith opened the scoring just under four minutes into the game. Rund beat a defender and fired a shot into the back of the net. It was her 14th goal of the year.
- The Saints tied the game just over a minute later, but that would be as close as the game would get. Tallis Tarbell converted a free position attempt.
- The Herons put the game out of reach, scoring the game's next 10 goals. The run kept St. Lawrence off the scoreboard for nearly 30 minutes.
- Senior Taryn Luzi kickstarted the run with her 14th goal of the year. The goal was assisted by Colvin. It also gave William Smith a 2-1 lead after 15 minutes.
- The Herons scored five goals in the second quarter. Cassidy netted her sixth goal of the season on a free position attempt. One minute later, Grottenthaler scored a woman-up goal. The unassisted goal was her 11th of the year.
- Junior Mia Falco added a woman-up goal with 9:01 left in the half, converting on a feed from Cassidy.
- Colvin scored the game's next two goals, bringing her season total to 12. Junior Kira Fulton and Cassidy set up the tallies.
- William Smith scored four more goals to start the third quarter, giving the Herons an 11-1 lead with 7:37 left in the frame. Grottenthaller, Rund and first-year Kaia Swamp scored unassisted goals during the stretch. First-year Charlotte Crocker also converted a free position attempt.
- St. Lawrence scored three of the game's final four goals. Tallis Tarbell notched a woman-down goal to close out the third quarter. Lilly Stanton notched a free-position goal at the 8:35 mark of the fourth quarter and Cate Rathnam added a free-position goal with 27 seconds remaining in regulation.
- Sophomore Lauren Collins had William Smith's goal in the fourth quarter. Her goal was assisted by Kira Fulton.
STREAKING
- With two assists this afternoon, Fulton extended her point streak to 22 games. She also has had at least one point in 25 of her last 26 appearances.
