McCulley named to USBWA Rochester Area Team

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced that junior guard Amelia McCulley was named to its Rochester Area honorable mention team after a strong 2025-26 season. McCulley is the first Heron to be named to the USBWA Rochester Area team since Brooke Jarvis '24 was named to the first team in 2024.
 
McCulley appeared in 21 games for the Herons this season, starting 14. She averaged 10.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, 1.0 steals and 0.9 assists during her junior campaign. McCulley shot 85% from the free throw line and led the team with a 34% shooting percentage from behind the arc. She finished the season ranked fifth in the Liberty League in blocks, and 13th in scoring and 3-point field goals per game.
 
The Le Roy, New York, native was named to the Liberty League weekly honor roll three times this season. Along with her athletic achievements, McCulley has also been named a Liberty League All-Academic twice and to the CSC Academic All-District team in 2025. Last season, she received the Marisa Vespa '08 Basketball Award, which is given to the team's most valuable player.
 
McCulley's junior season was highlighted by a career-high 24-point showing in the season finale win over Bard. Against the Raptors, she recorded her 21st block of the season, moving into a tie for second on the program records list at 89 career blocks with Mia Morrison '19. McCulley added a season-high eight boards and went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the win over Bard. McCulley dropped double digit points in 10 games this season, surpassing the 20-point mark in three games. She recorded a season-high four blocks in the season-opener against SUNY Geneseo and dished out a season-high four assists against Utica. McCulley recorded a season-high three steals against Clarkson.
 
William Smith finished the season with a 4-21 record and posted a 2-16 record in conference play. The Herons finished the season in ninth place in the league standings.
