Wilson saves 16 in setback to HPU

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart lacrosse team fell to High Point 15-8 on Saturday at Urick Stadium. Despite a strong 16-save performance by senior goalie Elhanan Wilson, the Statesmen were unable to contain High Point's extra-man unit, which converted on five of seven chances.

Hobart sophomore Johnny Harding led the Statesmen with three points on two goals and an assist. First-year Slade Engstrom also scored two goals. Senior David Peterkin and first-year Gordon Bennett both finished with a goal and an assist. Wilson's 16 saves included nine in the first half as Hobart went into the break trailing by just one.

High Point's offense was led by the trio of Justin Wixted, Carson Robins and Owen Bunten. Wixted was the playmaker, doling out five assists and scoring twice. Robins had six points, including four goals. Bunten also scored four times. Senior faceoff specialist Luca Accardo, who came into the game second in the nation in ground balls and fifth in faceoff percentage, went 17-of-22 at the X against Hobart's injury-depleted faceoff unit and grabbed a game-high eight ground balls.
