Hobart Baseball Triumphs 11-4 Over Keuka

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart baseball team secured an 11–4 victory over Keuka College on Tuesday night at McDonough Park, highlighted by a seven-run fourth inning. Hobart amassed 10 hits and drew eight walks, capitalizing on Keuka's five errors to earn their fourth straight win.

Hobart got on the board in the third inning when senior Christian Petry led off with a bunt single. First-year Jack O'Neil followed with an RBI triple to right center. The Statesmen broke the game open in the fourth with seven unearned runs. O'Neil contributed a two-run single and sophomore Aidan Davenport added a two-run double, expanding Hobart's lead to 8-0.
 

Keuka broke up the shutout with a run in the fifth, but the Statesmen answered in their half of the inning on junior Sean Garvin's RBI single. The Wolves scored three more in the sixth, but 9-4 was as close as the visitors would get. 

O'Neil drove in the final two runs in the eighth with his fourth hit of the game.

A staff day for the Statesmen pitching corps, Hobart used 10 pitchers to complete the nine innings. Trevor Kimball got the win to improve to 3-1 on the season. He did not allow a hit in a scoreless third inning, striking out one.

GAME NOTES
- The Statesmen scored 10 or more runs in a game for the fourth time in the last five games and the 14th time overall this season.
- Hobart had a season-high eight stolen bases.
- O'Neil was 4-for-6. It was his second four-hit game of the season.
- O'Neil's five RBIs tonight are the most by a Statesman in a game this season. 
- O'Neil has at least one hit in five straight games.
- Garvin and senior Nate Garrett each produced two hits.
- Garvin extended his hitting streak to 12 games and has reached base safely in 20 consecutive games.
- Petry and junior Cole Conte each scored three runs, tied for the most by a Statesman this season.
- Petry accounted for three of Hobart's eight stolen bases, tied for the most by a Statesman this year.

Hobart improved to 23-7 on the season. Keuka fell to 9-16.

Up next for the Statesmen is a matchup against Liberty League West rival RIT at 3 p.m. Friday, April 17 at McDonough Park.
