GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart football team will host SUNY Brockport at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 on Boswell Field at Urick Stadium. Both teams come into the non-conference contest with 1-0 records, but earned their Week 1 wins in very different ways.
 
General admission tickets are $5 and can be purchased online or at the Urick Stadium box office beginning 90 minutes before kickoff.
 
The game will be webcast on HWS All-Access and broadcast by WHWS-FM (105.7).
 
WEEK 1: Hobart 24, Alfred 17
 
Hobart opened the 2026 season with a down-to-the-wire 24-17 win over Alfred. The Statesmen led 24-10 following senior E.J. Taylor's second touchdown of the game just nine seconds into the fourth quarter, but the visiting Saxons made it a one-score game just over five minutes later. The Statesmen defense came up with two stops down the stretch to preserve the lead.
 
Taylor led the offense with a game-high 215 all purpose yards, including his eighth consecutive 100-yard rushing game (137). Sophomore defensive back Latrell Bonaparte made a team-high eight tackles, while junior defensive tackle Billy Brosko and junior linebacker Sean Meyers each added seven stops. The Statesmen defense put the AU quarterback under pressure all night, registering seven sacks and six hurries. Brosko and senior defensive tackle Hunter Vos each contributed two sacks.
 
WEEK 1: Brockport 68, Buffalo State 0
 
Brockport began the season on Thursday night, hosting Buffalo State in the annual I-90 rivalry game. The game was never in doubt as the Golden Eagles scored on their first six possessions, cruising to a 68-0 victory.
 
Senior quarterback Ben Gocella was a perfect 10-for-10 for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Nolan Slywka caught a game-high six passes for 82 yards and two TDs. On the ground, first-year running back Derrion Battle turned 10 carries into 106 yards and a TD. First-year defensive lineman Ari Gefell produced a team-high nine tackles.

Brockport is the only team in the Empire 8 with a winning record against Hobart. The Golden Eagles improved to 8-5 all-time against the Statesmen with a 14-10 win in Brockport last season. Hobart successfully defended its home field the last time the two teams met in Geneva, earning a 33-7 win over No. 13 Brockport to open the 2019 season. Brockport came into that game having won its previous 22 regular season games.
