Hobart lacrosse alum
David Peterkin '26 was selected by the Halifax Thunderbirds in the second round of the 2026 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft last night. He's the first Statesman taken in the NLL Draft since Ty Yanko '21 in 2021.
Â
"Our entire program is thrilled for David," Hobart Head Coach
Stephen Brundage said. "His style of play is perfect for the NLL. He's fast, has great vision and a slick stick. Halifax is getting a young star who will be great in the league for many years to come."
Â
Peterkin appeared in 52 career games for Hobart, recording 99 points on 54 goals and 45 assists. In the program's Division I era, he is 15th in career assists and 20th in career points. Peterkin was a starter in each of his final two seasons at Hobart, earning All-Atlantic 10 honors both years, including first team accolades in 2025. He produced a career-high six points (2g, 4a) against St. Bonaventure during his junior year.
Â
An exceptional student, Peterkin was a 2026 USILA Scholar All-American, a two-time A10 All-Academic Team selection and a recipient of the 2024 Arnold Scholar-Athlete Award. He graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in economics and business management and entrepreneurship.
