For more than 50 years, the members of the SAA have put their shoulders firmly behind their beloved Statesmen. From 1970’s charter members to today’s 900-plus donors, the generous teamwork of Statesmen Athletic Association members has strengthened the athletics program at Hobart College and reinforced the educational experience of thousands of student-athletes.
Nicknamed “the team behind Hobart’s teams,” this motto has never been more descriptive or meaningful than during these challenging economic times. Augmenting the Hobart Athletic Department budget, nearly 75 percent of the SAA’s funding is earmarked for “Team Support:” equipment, uniforms, recruiting and computers/technology. The remaining 25 percent of the SAA operating fund helps to underwrite team awards, the Block H Dinner and membership services (mailings, premiums and social events).
From supporting the salary of a strength and conditioning coach or an assistant athletic trainer to purchasing jibs for the sailing team or football travel bags, the
SAA Board of Directors is committed to directing funds to where the athletes will most benefit.
Among recent and current examples of SAA projects and team support are:
- The Raleigh-Foley-Kraus Varsity Strength Training Center
- The Napier Student-Athlete Leadership Seminar (now in its 15th year)
- Four-sided, center ice hockey scoreboard at “The Cooler”
- Sports medicine treatment, rehab and emergency care equipment
- Assistance to teams for spring training, overseas and other special trips
- Digital recording and editing equipment
To you, who have made this critical support possible, please accept the gratitude of Hobart athletes, coaches and support staff…and we thank you in advance for
renewing your support.
