Jack Daniels is entering his second season as the special teams coach. Last season, he worked closely with the kickers, helping Sean Kirshe ’17 and Parker Thelander ’16 earn all-conference honors.

No stranger to the program, Daniels served as its head coach from 1981 through 1986. After a 1-8 debut season at Hobart, he led the Statesmen to a 4-5 mark in 1982 and then four straight winning seasons. He was voted the ICAC Coach of the Year after guiding Hobart to a second place finishin 1983. Daniels mentored three future Hobart Hall of Famers, Tom Rosa, J.C. Stein, and Scott Geise.

Daniels' collegiate coaching career also included stops at Trinity (Conn.) (1970-73), Colgate (1976-77), Virginia (1978-80), and The Citadel (1987-88).

In 1989, Daniels hung up his whistle to pursue a career in athletic administration. He spent the next seven years at Marshall as the senior associate athletic director. Following five years as the athletic director at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Daniels retired. He recently moved back to Geneva and will served as a special teams assistant coach.

Daniels' grandson, Patrick O’Connell III, is an offensive lineman for the Statesmen.
