Joseph C. Stein '86 was a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse and a three-year letterwinner in football. He was a honorable mention Division III All-American in 1985 in football and a first-team All-American in lacrosse in 1986. Stein also won the William C. Stiles Memorial Award in 1986 and the Murray Bartlett Memorial Trophy for character and sportsmanship in football in 1985. He also won the Paul Vogt '27 Memorial Trophy in 1983 for most improved in football. Stein was a member of both the ECAC All-Star Division III football team in 1985 and the All-ICAC football team in 1983. He was the secretary of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and director of the Statesmen Athletic Association from 1990 to 1992.
