#7 Herons take on Dutchwomen, Thoroughbreds

The seventh-ranked William Smith College soccer team will be on the road for two Liberty League matches this weekend, Oct. 10-11. The Herons will travel to Schenectady to take on Union on Friday at 4 p.m., then they will go on to Saratoga Springs to face Skidmore on Saturday at 2 p.m.

William Smith holds an 8-1-1 overall record and sits atop the Liberty League standings with a 3-0-0 conference mark. Sophomore forward Brelynn Nasypany (Herkimer/Herkimer, N.Y.) leads the league in game-winning goals with five, and ranks second in goals (8) and points (18), while first-year goalie Amanda Davis (Roxbury/Succasunna, N.J.) tops the league and ranks 11th in the nation with a 0.39 goals against average. She also owns a .900 save percentage, which ranks 18th in the nation.

The Dutchwomen also own an 8-1-1 overall mark and a 2-0-0 league record going into this weekend's action. The Herons prevailed 3-0 last fall in Geneva, but Union holds a 4-2-1 advantage in matches vs. William Smith since 2004.

On the flip side, William Smith holds a 9-0-1 advantage against Skidmore since 2000. The Herons have only allowed the Thoroughbreds two goals in that time; both came last year when William Smith defeated Skidmore 3-2 in the semifinal round of the Liberty League Tournament. The Thoroughbreds enter the weekend with an 8-3-1 record, including a 1-1-0 mark in the league. They will host Hamilton on Friday night before squaring off against the Herons. Live stats will be available online for fans unable to make it to the game on Saturday.
