Big 2nd half run propels Hobart past Clarkson

Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y.--The Hobart basketball team ended its Liberty League showdown with Clarkson on a 27-7 run for a 72-63 victory tonight. Statesmen Matt Pebole led all scorers with a season-high 23 points.

Hobart (6-11, 3-3) shot 50 percent from the floor and 72.4 percent from the free throw line, while limiting the Golden Knights (11-6, 2-4) to just 37.1 percent from the floor.

Rob Estep joined Pebole in double figures with 18 points, including a 10-of-12 showing from the free throw line. Adam Salzmann grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go with seven points.

George Koduah (18 pts) gave Clarkson a 56-45 lead with 6:54 remaining in the contest. The Statesmen scored the next 14 points, including five from Mark Bruce (9 pts, 7 reb), to grab a 59-56 lead at the 3:37 mark. The Golden Knights stayed close, but did not take a single shot down the stretch that could have tied the game or given them the lead.

Hobart got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 16-6 lead. Clarkson moved in front with a 12-0 run and took a 34-26 lead into halftime thanks to a 7-0 run to close the stanza.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Jan. 31, when they visit St. Lawrence. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Fans can follow all of the action online with Live Stats and streaming video.
