Game Notes
On Tues., March 24, the Hobart lacrosse team will head to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y., ranked 17th in the nation by the USILA Coaches Poll and 19th in the Inside Lacrosse/Nike Media Poll. The host Orange is ranked second in both polls.
The Statesmen (5-1) are looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, a 5-4 setback to Rutgers on Saturday. Hobart leads the nation in scoring defense, giving up 5.33 goals per game, thanks in large part to the stellar play of junior goalie
Max Silberlicht. He leads the nation in save percentage (.677) and ranks second in goals against average (5.33).
The Statesmen offense is led by senior attackman
Jeff Colburn. He boasts a team-high 20 points (8-12) and ranks fifth in the nation in assists per game (2.0).
Colburn is one of five Hobart players from the Salt City and its immediate suburbs along with sophomore midfielder
Nick Blumer, junior attackman
Kevin Curtin, junior midfielder
Mike Suits, and first-year midfielder
Jeff Watson. Several other Statesmen live within a short drive of Syracuse.
The Orange are 5-1 overall with its only loss coming against top-ranked Virginia. SU leads the nation in scoring offense (14.33 gpg), extra-man offense (64.7%), and scoring margin (+7.33).
The game will be the 95th meeting between the Hobart and Syracuse lacrosse teams. The Orange lead the all-time series 67-25-2, including a 13-11 win in 2007 and a 13-5 triumph last season. The Statesmen last beat Syracuse in 2006, 9-8.
The game will be televised live by Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Ch. 26) and broadcast by
WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3 in Geneva). Fans can follow along online with
