Statesmen head to NYC for Friday bout with Red Storm

Game Notes | WEOS-FM | Live Stats | Online Video

The Hobart lacrosse team will play a rare Friday afternoon game at conference rival St. John's on April 17. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. All of the action can be heard live on WEOS-FM.

Both teams bring 5-5 overall records and 1-4 marks in the conference to DaSilva Memorial Field. The Statesmen are looking to halt a five-game losing streak, while the Red Storm has dropped four in a row.

Senior Jeff Colburn sports a team-high 28 points for Hobart. He's coming off a two-goal performance against UMass that saw him become the seventh Division I Statesman to reach the 100-point plateau. Junior goalie Max Silberlicht backstops the conference's stingiest defense. He boasts a 7.10 goals against average (6th in the nation) and a .636 save percentage (5th).

St. John's is led by senior Drew Schanen's 22 goals and 26 points, while senior Dom DeNapoli leads the nation in ground balls per game (9.3). Junior goalie Gavin Buckley (9.23 GAA, .542 SV%) has played every minute in the cage for the Red Storm.

Hobart and St. John's will meet for the fifth time in a series that began in 2005. Hobart holds a 3-1 lead after posting a convincing 17-7 win on Boswell Field last season.
