Burnett-Kurie nabs WPSL honors

Former William Smith College soccer standout Laura Burnett-Kurie '08 was recently named to the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) All-Eastern Conference first team. Burnett-Kurie helped guide the WPSL's Adirondack Lynx to a 7-3 record this season and an appearance in the league's playoffs.

While at William Smith, Burnett-Kurie was a two-time All-American and four-time All-Liberty League pick. She led the Herons in scoring three straight seasons, and finished her career ranked fourth on the school's all-time lists for points (102) and goals (42). Burnett-Kurie is currently the assistant women's soccer coach at Gettysburg College.

Joining Burnett-Kurie on the Adirondack Lynx's roster this season was former Heron Tracy Stankavage '08. An exceptional defender, Stankavage earned All-America honors and was named the Liberty League Player of the Year following William Smith's 2007 season. Stankavage also served as the Herons' junior varsity soccer coach in 2008.
