Box Score ITHACA, N.Y.—Junior BreLynn Nasypany scored with 1 minute, 39 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to propel the fifth-ranked William Smith College soccer team to a 1-0 victory over seventh-ranked Ithaca on Carp Wood Field this afternoon. The Herons improve to 7-2-0 on the season, while the Bombers slip to 7-2-0 overall.

Ithaca outshot William Smith 28-12, and held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal, but Nasypany only needed one to give the Herons the win. With the game appearing to be headed for a scoreless result, sophomore Whitney Frary booted a corner kick into the box in the 109th minute, and Nasypany was there to head it in for her fourth goal, and third game-winner, of the year. The assist marked Frary's team-leading fourth.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Davis was outstanding in net, recording a career-high 10 saves, and notching her well-deserved sixth shutout of the season. Davis made a number of clutch stops, including five in the first half, and one in each of the overtime periods. Alyssa Sotomayor picked up two saves for Ithaca.

William Smith did have a few other chances to score earlier in the match. In the final minute of regulation, first-year Renee Jensen carried the ball up the right side of the field and crossed it to sophomore Kate Redmond, who was all alone 5 yards in front of net. Redmond's shot with 12 seconds left was chipped up over the crossbar.

In the first overtime, Frary took the Herons' first corner kick of the match midway through. Sophomore Jamie Sawyer connected for a shot, but it narrowly missed wide right.

William Smith will be back in action on Oct. 3, when the Herons travel to Hamilton for a Liberty League match at 1 p.m.
