Box Score Box Score

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—
Junior forward Kristen Kush and first-year guard Jacqueline Murphy produced double-doubles for William Smith. Kush recorded 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Murphy had a team-high 15 points and 10 boards.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to overcome the depth of 11th-ranked Rochester, as the Yellowjackets won for the eighth straight time thanks to a 74-51 victory on their home floor.

Sydni Salvatore scored the first point of the game for the Herons (3-5), making one of two from the free throw line, but Rochester (8-1) countered with 13 unanswered points to seize control of the game. In fact, the 'Jackets built a 24-5 lead with 8:06 remaining in the first half.

William Smith fought back with nine straight points, including five from Salvatore, but Rochester closed out the opening stanza on a 12-4 run to carry a 38-20 lead into halftime.

To start the second half, Kush scored three of the Herons' first four baskets to help the visitors close the gap to 42-28. William Smith got no closer.

Melissa Alwardt led the U of R with a game-high 17 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Paced by Loren Wagner's nine points, the Rochester bench outscored William Smith's reserves 36-16.

Following a season-opening, eight-game road trip, the Herons will make their Bristol Gym debut on Saturday, Dec. 18, when they host Cortland at 2 p.m.
