MIDDLETOWN, Conn.—The Hobart College squash team topped Northwestern 7-2 in the College Squash Association's (CSA) Conroy Cup semifinal match on Saturday, but fell to Connecticut College 6-3 in the championship on Sunday to finish second in the CSA's “D” division. The Statesmen wrap the season with a 6-16 overall record.
Playing at No. 2, first-year
Daniel Pelaez led Hobart with a 3-1 win over Akhil Daswani of Northwestern, and defeated his opponent from Connecticut College in the championship match.
Juniors
Grant Palermo and
Carl Ranieri also won their matches against both Northwestern and Connecticut College. At No. 4, Palermo defeated the Wildcats' William Benedict 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 11-3), while Ranieri topped Gabriel Parra 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-6) at No. 7. Both defeated the Camels playing in the same positions.
