The Hobart lacrosse team will head to Connecticut for a showdown with ECAC rival Fairfield on March 27. The Statesmen and Stags will faceoff at 1 p.m. in the nationally televised ECAC Lacrosse League Game of the Week.
Hobart (2-4, 0-1) is looking to snap a two-game slide that includes Tuesday night's heartbreaking 9-8 overtime loss to second-ranked Syracuse. Senior goalie
Max Silberlicht posted a career-high 23 saves against the Orange. He boasts a .625 save percentage and an 8.53 goals against average this season.
Faceoff specialist
Bobby Dattilo began the week third in the nation in winning percentage at the X. After winning 10-of-21 against SU, he has a 62.3 success rate as well as a team-high 29 ground balls.
Senior attackman
Kevin Curtin and sophomore attackman
Chris Pedersen share the team lead with 17 points apiece. Pedersen has produced a team-high 11 goals, while Curtin is Hobart's top playmaker with nine assists.
Fairfield is 4-2 after winning its ECAC opener on Tuesday, 10-8 over Ohio State. The streaking Stags have won three in a row, including a 10-8 win at then No. 3 Notre Dame.
Fairfield began the week third in the nation in saves per game (13.4), 10th in scoring defense (8.4 gapg), and 21st in man-up offense (.417). Following the game against the Buckeyes, Fairfield improved its scoring defense (8.33) and man-up offense (.438).
First-year attackman Sam Snow leads the offense with eight goals, five assists, and 13 points, while junior midfielder Matt Plominski is second with six goals and four assists. At the faceoff X, junior Steve Golmont has taken 110 of Fairfield's 120 restarts this season, winning 49.1 percent. He also leads the team with 25 ground balls. In goal, senior Joe Marra is third in the ECAC in both goals against average (8.33) and save percentage (.606).
