Statesmen renew rivalry with Pioneers on Saturday

The Hobart lacrosse team is heading to Denver for an ECAC showdown with the Pioneers on Sat., April 3. Faceoff at DU's Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. (3 p.m. EST).

The Statesmen (2-5, 0-2) are looking to snap a three-game slide and pick up their first conference win of the season. Attackmen senior Kevin Curtin and sophomore Chris Pedersen share the team's scoring lead with 19 points apiece, while senior Max Silberlicht backstops the defense. He is fourth in the nation in save percentage (.618) and 19th in goals against average (9.09).

Denver (5-4, 0-0) has won two in a row and four of its last five. The Pioneers will be playing their ECAC opener. Sophomore attackman Alex Demopoulos has a team-high 25 points. At the other end of the field, senior defenseman Dillon Roy has won 53.1 percent of his faceoffs to go with team-highs of 34 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers

Hobart and Denver will be squaring off for just the second time ever and the first time since 2003. The Pioneers won the inaugural contest on their home field 15-8.
