Statesmen host Bulldogs on Saturday

The Hobart lacrosse team will host Bryant University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 on Boswell Field at the Caird Center for Sports and Recreation. This will be the Bulldogs first trip to Geneva and just the second meeting between the two schools.

The Statesmen (1-4) began the week sixth in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (.651), 19th in saves per game (11.4), and 21st in man-up offense (.368). Junior midfielder Bobby Dattilo has taken every faceoff this season, and ranks 10th in the nation individually. He also leads the team with 44 ground balls (8.8/g, 3rd in the nation). Junior attackman Sam Miller paces the offense with 11 goals and 13 points. Defensively, senior long-stick midfielder Alex Caton has a team-high nine takeaways (24th in the nation) and 22 ground balls (40th), while senior goalie Evan Kirk has started all five games and has made 53 saves, including a career-high 15 stops against No. 19 Bucknell.

Bryant (2-3) is looking to rebound from an 8-7 four overtime loss at Drexel. The Bulldogs rank among the nation leaders in man-up offense (4th, .500), man-down defense (5th, .833), scoring defense (11th, 7.0), ground balls (18th, 32.8), and caused turnovers (20th, 8.6). Peter McMahon and Gary Crowley lead the attack with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Trever Sipperly is the team's top faceoff specialist, winning 44-of-76 through the first five games. Goalie Jameson Love sports a 6.70 GAA and a .593 save percentage.

Bryan won the first meeting between the two schools last season, topping Hobart in the season finale for both squads, 10-9.
