Hobart hosts Denver on Saturday in ECAC lacrosse showdown

The Hobart lacrosse team will host No. 12 Denver in an ECAC Lacrosse League showdown on Boswell Field at noon on Saturday, April 2. The Statesmen are 1-0 in conference play, a half game behind the first place Pioneers (2-0).

The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3). Outside of the broadcast area, fans can follow the action online with All-Access Video and Live Stats.

The Statesmen are riding a three-game win streak, including an 8-7 ECAC victory over Fairfield last Saturday. Hobart is 4-4 overall and began the week second in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (.654) and 18th in saves per game (11.25). Junior midfielder Bobby Dattilo has taken every faceoff for the Statesmen, winning 104 of 159. He's also scooped up a league-high 61 ground balls. In the cage, senior Evan Kirk has started every game, producing a .538 save percentage and a 9.54 goals against average. Senior attackman Sam Miller paces the offense with team-highs of 17 goals and 19 points.

Denver (6-2) is among the national leaders in scoring offense (4th, 12.88 gpg), assists (2nd, 7.63/g), points (2nd, 20.5/g), man-up offense (5th, 487), ground balls (5th, 38.5/g), scoring margin (6th, +4.13), and shooting percentage (8th, .327). Juniors Mark Matthews and Alex Demopoulos lead the team
with 34 points apiece and are tied for fifth in the nation in points per game (4.25). First-year Jamie
Faus has seen a majority of the action in goal this year and comes into today's game with an 8.41 GAA
and a .547 save percentage.

The game marks the third meeting between Hobart and Denver and the first to be played in Geneva. The Pioneers won the first two showdowns in the Mile High City, 15-8 in 2003 and 17-13 last season.
