Hobart heads to Carrier Dome for showdown with #4 Syracuse

The Hobart lacrosse team heads to the Carrier Dome tonight to take on the fourth-ranked Syracuse Orange. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Statesmen (5-6) are coming off a 13-10 victory over Bellarmine on Saturday. Hobart began the week second in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (.662) and 15th in saves per game (11.36). Junior midfielder Bobby Dattilo has taken all but three faceoffs for the Statesmen, winning 152 of 231 (.658), while leading the league in ground balls with 77. In the cage, senior Evan Kirk has started every game, producing a .520 save percentage and a 10.46 goals against average. Junior attackman Sam Miller paces the offense with team-highs of 24 goals and 26 points.

Syracuse (10-1) enters the game after a 13-3 victory over Providence in the New England Lacrosse Classic. The Orange ranks in the top 20 in the nation in winning percentage (3rd, .909), man down defense (7th, .786), scoring margin (14th, 2.45), assists per game (17th, 6.09), and caused turnovers per game (18th, 8.64). Senior John Galloway has started every game in net for Syracuse, posting a .554 save percentage and a 7.27 GAA (7th in the country).

Tonight's game marks the 25th annual competition for the Kraus-Simmons Trophy, honoring National Lacrosse Hall of Fame coaches Babe Kraus of Hobart and Syracuse's Roy Simmons Sr.

The game will be televised by Time Warner Sports and will air live on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3).
